Traders Hotel Penang

Last Sunday, I had an opportunity working together with Eunice and Siew Ying, the dedicated floggers of Malaysia Food Promotions for their latest food review at Traders Hotel, Penang. The Islander Cafe is having Thai Specialities Buffet Dinner on every Sunday and our target is to check it out and complete a review on the food served under this newly introduced buffet theme.

We're accompanied by Mrs. Eileen, Communications Manager of Traders Hotel throughout the whole session. She brought us around the cafe, introduced us to the featured food served and provided us the details of their current on-going promotions.

After the review, we had the buffet dinner there together with Mrs. Eileen. She shared with us about hotel management, her experience working in the service industry as well as other things. Besides this, we also chit-chatted among ourselves on photography, food blogging, etc.

I enjoyed the whole process: being the photographer in this food review, meeting new people, making new friends, sharing our experiences and of course, the buffet dinner as well.

Do visit The Islander Thai Specialities post in Malaysia Food Promotions for more details on the food served and the promotions provided by The Islander Cafe! :-)

Some photos, other than food took on that day...

Penang Bon Odori Festival 2009

Bon Odori Festival is a Japanese Buddhist observance honouring the spirits of ancestors, who return once a year to visit their families. Traditional dance is performed to entertain the spirits of the ancestors.

This year, the event was held at 18 July 2009 at Esplanade, Penang. It was jointly organised by the state government and the Japanese Consulate.

The event was started with speech by Y.B. Tuan Law Heng Kiang followed by Tuan Hideaki Hoshi Consul-General of Japan and Penang Chief Minister, Y.A.B. Tuan Lim Guan Eng.

Speech by Penang Chief Minister

There were over 80 stalls selling food, souvenirs and providing games in making the event merrier...

The festival featured Bon Odori dance and drum performances by the Penang Japanese Association, Malaysian-Japanese Society, Penang Japanese Language Society as well as other supporting associations...

Everyone enjoyed the stage performances. Some of the visitors with Kimono even danced together with the performers on stage. The event was ended with a 10-minute fireworks display at 10pm.

During the event, I managed to took some portrait shots on a few cute little girls and boys with their Kimonos...

Karen & Hing Wedding Dinner

11.07.09 was a big day for Karen & Hing. We're invited to their wedding dinner, held at Sea Palace Restaurant. I brought my camera on that day and managed to capture the sweet moments throughout the whole wedding ceremony.

This was my first time / experience shooting wedding dinner photos. It was really challenging to shot in such low light condition without an external flash attached to my camera. Looks like it's time for me to get an external flash unit + a wide angle lens. :-)

Btw, I would like to wish Karen & Hing Happy Marriage and have a wonderful life forever!
