Penang Butterfly Farm

Penang Butterfly Farm is the first tropical butterfly farm ever set up in the tropical world, with an average flying population of 4000 Malaysian butterflies of 120 different species. I went there last Saturday and came back with some close-up photos on butterflies. Entrance fee is at RM20 per adult (50% discount for Malaysian). It's a great place to train up your close-up and macro shooting skills.

Penang Floral Festival 2009

Over the last week, I was attracted by the colorful banners put up all over Penang showing "Pesta Bunga 2009". I decided to go for the event to shoot photos of flowers. Well, this was the first time I tried to take close-up shots of flowers and plants.

This year, the event is held from 31 May to 07 June at Penang Botanical Garden, the oldest botanical garden in Malaysia with the theme "Colorful World of Flowers".

There were a lot of visitors came for the event on the first day itself bringing along their beloved ones / friends / family / children to enjoy the nice flowers and plants while they are still in shape and look fresh.

Besides that, there were also four environmental-friendly mini trams provided by Penang Botanical Garden in conjunction with the event for bringing the visitors slowly around the green enclave. The tram charges are only at RM1 per adult / RM0.50 per child.

The weather on that day was sunny. I was there from 9am till 2pm and managed to capture some nice close-up shots of flowers and plants...

It was indeed a great experience for me to take so many close-up shots of flowers and plants in one day.
