HDR Photos of the Week

It was a rainy weekend in Penang. The rain comes on & off and I was lazy to go out for photo shooting. I just stayed in my room, watched some downloaded movies, listened to songs and then searched back my recent photo collections. I picked 2 photos and processed them in HDR to play around with the features in HDR processing and Photoshop.

Trishaw at Khoo Kongsi
Fishing Boat at Chew Jetty

These 2 photos were processed with Photomatix to bring out the subtle details and fine-tuned with Photoshop to selectively boost up the colours to create an entire different mood to the scene. Do click at the photos to view in bigger size.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

No prob. I normally use Photomatix (get it from www.hdrsoft.com) to process my HDR photos. Here are a few steps of HDR processing:

1. Take 3 photos at different exposures OR take 1 in RAW then change its exposure setting during RAW processing.
2. In Photomatix, merge these 3 photos.
3. Then, select Tone Mapping. Here, you can fine tune your HDR photo to get your desired outcome with Details Enhancer or Tone Compressor.
4. Save your HDR photo.
5. Use PS to make some editing if needed.
6. Done!

There are many settings in HDR processing and all these settings contribute to the final outcome of your HDR photo. You can play around with these settings to get different outcomes / effects.

Enjoy! :-D
